Basic concepts (edit)

Infantry have defensive capabilities and the best capacity, Bowmen have the strongest attack, Cavalry have the fastest movement speed and decent capacity, while Spearmen are well-rounded.

Bowmen have the lowest carrying capacity, while Cavalry the highest (according to an in-game tip).

Counter system[edit | edit source]

Troop types are able to counter others:

  • Cavalry counters Infantry.
  • Infantry counters Spearmen.
  • Spearmen counters Cavalry.
  • Bowmen have no counter.

When attacking countered troop types, damage dealt increases by 50%.

When being attacked by countered troop types, damage received decreases by 25%.

In battle, Infantry, Spearmen, and Cavalry are placed in the front while Bowmen are better suited for the back to minimize damage taken.

Barracks[edit | edit source]

The barracks is where it all begins for most soldiers. All types of troops can be trained here. Constructing or upgrading the barracks increases the number of soldiers produced by each class. Upgrading barracks not only increases the number of soldiers you can train, you can also unlock more advanced soldiers at certain levels!

Tiers[edit | edit source]

Troops come in 8 tiers, 1 to 8. To unlock higher tier troops, upgrade your barracks. New tiers are unlocked every 5 levels; 8th tier additionally requires significant technology investment. Initially, each troop tier roughly doubles their power/rating; see table below. Higher tier troops have also higher carrying capacity.

You can also upgrade your lower-tier troops to the maximum unlocked tier using barracks.

  • Upgrading troops is not restricted by the size of the barracks, i.e., you can upgrade troops in much larger chunks than training.
  • Upgrade does count for the Train Soldiers objective in Daily commission and other events.
Troop tier Power

2 2
3 4
4 8
5 16
6 24

Special troops[edit | edit source]

Special troops, introduced in December 2020, are a form of an upgrade of your troops with special weaponry. They have slightly higher stats than ordinary troops plus a special skill. In battle, special troops and ordinary troops share a unit, such as Dothraki cavalry and ordinary cavalry. The higher the proportion of special troops, the higher the triggering probability of arms skills.

  • Mountain clan: When attacked, infantry have a chance to trigger Frenzy. Damage dealt is increased until they die.
  • Dothraki cavalry: When attacking, cavalry have a chance to trigger Intimidation. Target's damage is lowered. The duration of the buff is refreshed if it is triggered again before the turn it expires.
  • Unsullied: When attacking, spearmen have a chance to trigger Counter. Damage dealt to the target is increased. If spearmen score a critical hit on a countered troop type, it lowers their damage as well.
  • Wildling: When attacked, bowmen have a chance to trigger Sly. Damage taken is reduced.

You can train special troops in your barracks. You can also upgrade your regular troops with special weaponry there.

Troop technology[edit | edit source]

War is not purely a clash of physical and mental prowess, it is also a contest of technology. That is why technology is a major factor for troop development.

  • With the aid of the maester's tower, you can raise the Health, Attack, Defense, and other attributes of your troops.
  • Technologies at Blacksmith > Enhance increase the stats of your special troops.

Commander combinations[edit | edit source]

Pair your troops with a commander with combat-type skills when editing troops to increase your troops' Attack, Defense, and Health attributes to better your chances at an easy victory.

Expedition queues[edit | edit source]

You can organize your troops into multiple armies or expedition queues.

  1. Available at start.
  2. Unlock at castle level 8
  3. Unlock at castle level 17
  4. Unlock at castle level 30
  5. Unlock by researching Expedition Queue at military council
  6. Unlock by researching Expedition Queue II at military council
  7. ??

Tap Assemble on the main screen to enter troop configuration:

  • Initially, each army can have only one or two commanders, but eventually, you can go up to 5 commanders. Increase the number of deployable commanders by unlocking new titles from the New Lord category.
  • The maximum number of troops in your army is affected primarily by castle level, but depends also on your deployed commanders and other factors.
